Homeward Bound

We are on our way! And I think my entertainment will be watching all the ways Miso can fall asleep...

Bath Day!

Turns out Miso is fearless. Today she jumped off a seven foot high dock into thigh deep pluff mud. After a slight confusion about how she got where she was, she took of in a full sprint to catch up to me on my bike and Ali running behind. I'll post a picture later of how far she ran. The dock is almost half a mile! And that is on top of the two miles to get home!

Miso's New Favorite Spot

Miso found a new place to hang out when she is outside. And while I am not positive she is just waiting for a tasty tidbit to escape, with a face like this, who wouldn't trust her as a gaurd dog?

The best part of the day...

...is the quiet slurping of dogs trying to figure out how to get the frozen peanut butter and kimble out of the kong.

Playing In The Water

So Miso had a big accomplishment today! For the first time she not only joined in swimming but started fetching herself.

Ali, probably tired of being mugged on the way out, or lazy because I threw her buoy too far, didn't go out.

So Miso took off swimming, got it herself, and then dropped it at my feet.

This one is not going to be afraid of the water!

Dog Tired

This was Miso sleeping while I was talking to you last night. It was great hearing your voices!

Making Friends, Part 2

Today we had a pair of visitors to the island, two bottle nose dolphins who were coralling a school of fish.

They are hard to miss as they pop their tails on the surface of the water to confuse the fish they are chasing. So Miso went to investigate this strange occurrence.

And then she went to make friends. But no luck, with a swish of their tail and a big splash, the pair of dolphins swam off.

But dolphins are not scared easily, and a minute later they were fifty yards down the beach chasing the school of fish again.

Making Friends

Yesterday while on our usual route, Miso made a friend. Dunie is a Goat Island dog who wanders the island and occassionally jumps out of a bush or is chasing the deer that jumped out of the bush. But today he joined our merry bunch and played with girls. Looks like Miso is having a howl of a time!

Oysters On The Whole Shell

Somebody discovered a lowcountry delicassy. If only I could train her to open them, but leave the oyster...

Two Very Wet Dogs

Although it looks like Miso is in the lead, this is Ali baiting her into taking a bath. But it didn't last long, as they quickly got back to playing...

Miso & Ali

They are done chasing each other, for the moment...

Officially a Goater

So Miso is officially a Goat Islander. That title is bestowed on you after you fall off your first dock and or boat, and greet the ICW. It took Miso about three minutes to pass the bar. But otherwise, her first few days here have been uneventful (for me, maybe not her). A lot of hikes, a couple of swims, playing with Ali (it is going to be so easy to keep Ali in shape), and I think she is one happy dog. But maybe this pic is worth a thousand words...
